Post-Monsoon Hair Fall: Why It Happens and What to Do in Autumn

As the monsoon ends and the air turns drier, many of us see more hair in the brush. Some of this is a normal seasonal shed, and some comes from a scalp that had a humid, sweaty few months.
Why it happens
- Humidity and sweat can leave the scalp dirty or irritated.
- The weather change dries the scalp.
- The natural hair cycle includes shedding, and for some people it peaks in autumn.
An easy autumn routine
- Cleanse well. Wash two or three times a week with a mild shampoo such as Amla & Bhringraj Shampoo.
- Oil weekly. A scalp massage with Amla & Bhringraj Oil helps with dryness. See our oiling guide.
- Handle hair gently. Do not comb wet hair roughly or tie it tight.
- Eat well. Protein, greens and enough sleep matter.
When to worry
Shedding that continues for months, comes in patches or leaves the scalp visible needs a doctor. Read more in our guide to winter hair fall.

If you have sudden or patchy hair loss, a sore, itchy or flaky scalp, or skin that is painful, swollen or not improving, please see a doctor or dermatologist. Always patch-test a new product first.
