How to Use a Face Scrub Safely: How Often and How Gently

A face scrub helps remove dead skin so the face looks fresher. Used wrongly, it can cause redness and dryness. Here is the safe way.
How often?
Once or twice a week for most skin. Sensitive or dry skin: once a week or less.
Steps
- Wet your face with lukewarm water.
- Apply a small amount of Potato, Beetroot or Kumkumadi scrub.
- Massage in light circles for about a minute. No pressing.
- Rinse and moisturise.
Who should skip
- Anyone with active acne, open wounds, sunburn or a rash.
- Those who just used strong actives.
Signs you are overdoing it
Redness, stinging, tightness or shiny, thin-looking skin. Stop and let the skin rest. See also our de-tan guide.
